In order to adopt one of our lovely dogs, an adoption application is required. Please see our adoption page to learn more information on our adoption process. You will not be considered until an application is received by us. Once we receive your application we will contact you to do a phone interview. At that time we can answer any questions you may have. Please look at the specific dog you are interested in for the adoption fee. The fees vary by the vetting required, transport, age, and shelter fees for each pet. These fees are non-negotiable. This is an "Adoption Fee" and is solely for the adoption of that pet. We try to fully vet each dog but this is not guaranteed by paying the adoption fee.

View all the dogs and puppies available for adoption currently in foster homes. In order to adopt one of our dogs, an adoption application is required. Our applications are located on the applications page of the website. You will not be considered until an application is received by us. There is an application fee to apply for our pets. This fee is $30 and if you are approved for adoption it is then applied to your adoption fee. If you are not approved, we will refund this fee to you at your request. However, if at anytime you cancel your application, this fee is non-refundable. This is to insure that you are serious in looking for this pet. At times we receive 50-100 applications at a time and we want to know that we are not wasting time on an application if they are not serious. If you are interested in visiting one of our pets, we can arrange that after reviewing your application. All of our pets are in foster care (with the exception of urgent dogs), and we want to know a little about you before having our volunteer meet with you. Final approval may take as much as a week or two.

Our adoption fees range from $0 to $150. Upon entry at our shelters, most dogs are given a 4-in-1 vaccination, Bordetella vaccination and flea/tick treatment. Adopted dogs ages three months of age and older also receive a rabies vaccination and County dog license/tag as part of their adoption fee. Cat s receive a 3-in-1 vaccination when they arrive at our shelters (cats are not required to be rabies vaccinated or licensed in Maricopa County).

All animals adopted from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. If the cat or dog you adopt has not yet been altered, he/she may need to stay an extra day or two for surgery.

In recognition and appreciation of U.S. veterans' service to our country, MCACC's Pets and Vets program waives adoption fees for pets adopted by veterans. Adopters participating in the Pets and Vets program will be responsible for paying the $17 license fee for adopted dogs (there is no fee for cats). Veterans wishing to participate in the Pets and Vets program are asked to provide verification of veteran, reservist or active duty status. We will accept the following verification documents: Military ID, DD214 Military Discharge Certificate, Honorable Discharge Certificate, Letter for the U.S. Military Center in St. Louis or Letter from the Maryland Veterans Administration Service Program.

Our shelters take in nearly 100 animals every single day. If you are looking for a specific breed or type of animal, it is best to visit our shelters in person. Once you've found a pet you'd like to adopt, our staff and volunteers will ask you to spend some time in one of our Get Acquainted areas with your potential pet. If it's a match, you'll be asked to complete an adoption application and a short questionnaire. You do not need to be an Arizona resident to adopt from MCACC, but you must complete the adoption in person and we are unable to provide transportation for your newly adopted dog or cat. Did you know you can view our available pets online? Dogs and cats that have not been reclaimed are also available to meet and bring home at our building seven days per week. Our adoptable cats are always viewable in our lobby. Our adoption center staff will happily help you select the right dog to add to your family. We strongly encourage you to come into our facility to meet animals in person and not wait for animals to be updated on our Petfinder page. That page is not able to always be updated in a timely way and you could miss out on an animal you could be interested in if you do not come in person.
