San Antonio, Texas Boarding & Kennels - Dog-Friendly Listings

This weekend, as part of a special bloggers’ day, we had the chance to visit the kennels at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. (Our dogs were hanging out at home but we asked to see the kennels so we could share some information and photos with DogTipper readers.)

Best Dog boarding in San Antonio, TX - Yelp

We've been to SeaWorld San Antonio twice with our children and we all love it. We enjoy the shows, the children's areas, the nice indoor spots to cool off and the Lost Lagoon is perfect and my five year old LOVES the big water dripping house and the wave pool. I love the lazy river but couldn't use it this time with a 5 month old baby. It's nice that you can bring in a reasonable amount of bottled water in a six-pack size cooler and that saves a fortune itself. I like to print out the park map online and circle the main things we want to see and note the times of the shows while we'll be there so we don't miss anything. There is also an app that is helpful too. We purchased the one year pass the first time and so we got in free the second time 11.5 months later. I also love that they have (I think) 28 free outdoor kennels for dogs, so I am reviewing and posting photos of that area since I didn't see any online anywhere. The locks are automatic and you just take the key with you after you fill the provided water bowl (though it's lightweight and plastic, so I'd bring a heavier one and double up when it's hot), some food and something to chew on. It was July and over 100 degrees outside so we checked on our sweet guy a couple of times and you do have to drive to it but it's on site not far from the main entrance. It's loud at first with other dogs 'talking' to each other (like a vet kennel would be) and they get excited when you pull up, so they may fip their plastic water bowl over if they jump around too much. It's in a open building, covered and shaded area with several large blow fans and each kennel is large enough to hold even a Shepherd or other large dog with room to spare and several kennels had multiple smaller companion dogs in one kennel. Just be sure to gauge where the sun is going to hit for the duration of your visit so you don't place them in full sun but there are several inside rows and isn't a problem really. We drove 6 hours so our backup plan was to use a PetSmart a short drive away and use their drop in doggie daycare but we never needed to. I was very happy with the park and the kennels alike and plan to return every couple of summers on the way to Corpus, which is only a couple of hours away. Hope this helps- especially if you don't want to board your dog- bring them on, just look for dog friendly hotels and ensure that you can leave your pet unattended in the room while you are gone or you'll be very limited in where you can go. Cheers!
